The report shows that Atlanta, Orlando and Jacksonville have shown high growth rates in the years following the 2000 census count. Atlanta, GA Atlanta was the highest ranking city on the Forbes Top Ten, coming in at 4th overall with 21 percent growth since 2000. As the crown jewel of the New South, Atlanta is home to the busiest International Airport in the United States and is a well known convention hub. Atlanta is also home to several of the country's foremost colleges and universities, including Georgia Tech, Emory University and Spelman College. Its based on the growth Atlanta's interstate commerce and the commitment of city officials to bring shopping, residential and green space into the city. The recent buildup of the Midtown and Buckhead areas have brought larger numbers of people into the metro area closer to entertainment, fine dinning and shopping. Orlando, FL The city of Orlando, FL experienced 20.7 percent growth and ranked 5th on the Forbes list. The lure of Orlando agreeable climate and smaller population than many of its neighboring metro areas. However the small population doesn't equal small time amenities. Orlando sports a entertainment multiplex known as City Walk, where you can experience a wide variety of themed restaurants and bars all in one location. Many residents find that traffic in Orlando is much more tolerable than in other areas. Jacksonville, FL Jacksonville is Florida's northernmost city on the Atlantic coast and is approximately a 2 hour drive from Daytona Beach. Jacksonville boasts 13 percent growth and ranked 10th on the list. The city has a diverse mix people and has something for everyone. It is also located near the Mayport Navy Base.
